While we’re on the subject of Nadav Kander, I’ve been very much enjoying this talk he gave in London in 2016. Knowing what your artistic reference points are is essential for developing your creative practice. Seeing someone with a highly developed artistic practice give a rundown of their own reference points is an excellent help in getting you to think about your own references. Enjoy!
Something I try and do most days is to take some time to soak up the work of photographers who are doing some of the most important work in the field of photography today. Nadav Kander is one of those people. If you haven’t had a chance to take some time over his book Yangtze – The Long River yet, then I highly recommend you do – every page is an education. If you can’t find a copy to peruse then the images on his site will give you an idea, not just of the work, but of the scale of change happening in China.
